poll results Voting started off pretty slowly, but after the first couple of weeks of being on line we had a clear leader. With a substantial 63.2% of the vote, the winner is the Gorn.

There were quite a few other nominations for this Poll, including the Romulan Commander from the Enterprise Incident, Harry Mudd, Cyrano Jones, Lenor Karidian to name but a few.

I couldn't really say that I was surprised at the winner, as the Gorn had always been one of the iconic Classic Series villains. While their motivation for the attack on Cestus III was never made fully clear, I always hoped that the Gorn would make a follow up appearance in modern Trek. It wasn't until the Enterprise episode ""In a Mirror, Darkly" did my whish come true. I wasn't fully happy with the CGI Gorn, at is lacked the charm of the original costume, I would still personally love to see them make a big screen appearance with necessary big budget to pull it off successfully.

Let's take a look at your comments on the poll.

Captain K: Gutted that my nomination: Harry Mudd didn't make it in to the poll, so I will have to vote for the Horta - my all time favourite classic Trek monster!

Caz: Would just love to see the Gorn on the big screen, didn't care for their appearance in Enterprise - bring back the Gorn JJ.

Anna: It would be great to see Kirk and co go up against Khan again, he was one of the most memorable characters of the original series.

Katie: Rats - my suggestion didn't make it in - would love to see the Operation Annihilate flying brain things make a come back, they gave me nightmares when I was a kid!

Paul: Didn't really care for the first movie, but a return appearance of Khan might make me buy a ticket to the sequel.

Dan the Man: Put the Horta, Khan, the Guardian of Forever and Harry Mudd together and I still wouldn't pay to go see another dumbed down JJ Abrams movie! How about they concentrate on something a simple as a good script next time!

Alex: Lenor Karidian would have gotten my vote if she had made it to the poll, so I guess it will have to be the Gorn.

Patrick: Some hard choices to make here, I loved the Horta, and Khan and Kor were great - but it's got to be the Gorn.

Rav: The Gorn!!!!

Mike C: My vote goes to the Horta, just the most brilliant Alien from any sci-fi series that has been made to date.

Darren: I'd love to see them bring back Khan, but I have a feeling that they are going to keep away from re-making anything that has gone before.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to send in a few comments on the new movie, keep them coming in and the Comments Box will be a permanent fixture of Consensus. Submit Comments to Consensus via the Communicator.

We had some great suggestions for the next poll, by without doubt the one that got me thinking the most was a suggestion from regular visitor T'Pol. Her suggestion was a poll to find out who you think should be the voice of the Enterprise computer in the next Trek movie.

When it came down to nominations, we had a pretty mixed bag - both Sigourney Weaver and Marina Sirtis received multiple nominations. Weaver possibly because of her role as the computer in Wall-E and guest role in Futurama as the computer. Marina Sirtis was always going to be an obvious choice as the actress herself has said she is interested in taking on the role left vacant by the untimely death of Majel Barrett. Hathaway and Portman both received multiple nominations so made it in to the poll.

When the nomination for Whoopi came in, it really was out of the blue. Her distinctive voice is definitely not a choice that many casting directors would consider - but I for one believe she could bring a lot to what is after all a very small part. A few that didn't make it in included Honor Blackman, Nichelle Nichols and Cameron Diaz.

For the next poll we are going with a suggestion from Daz. He sent in a great suggestion for the next poll. There has been a lot of talk about Star Trek returning to the TV as a new series, his idea for the poll is to find out which era the new series should be set in. There has also been a great suggestion from Mike about classic Trek characters that he would like to see return in the next Trek movie

If you've got any more suggestions, or would like to send it a comment to be included here, please feel free to contact Consensus via the hail tag. The next poll will go up mid November and will be updated every three months ongoing.

So until next time,

Live Long and Prosper
