The Starbase Adran Omega Award is the stations ultimate web accolade. Omega has been developed to work hand in hand with the Starbase Adran Distinguished Service Commendation Award Programme.
The Commendation Awards Programme issues a formal Commendation for web excellence to a nominated web site every two months. The Omega Award is only open to those sites that have been lucky enough to receive a Distinguished Service Commendation that is listes in the current commendations log.Only when six bi-monthly Commendation awards have been recorded in the current Commendations log, will the Starbase Adran Omega Award review process being. This is to allow for any instances when it is not possible to make a commendation award during a specific period.
All sites listed in the current Commendations log will be checked to ensure they meet the following criteria
Those sites listed in the Current Commendations log that meet the the above criteria, will be shortlisted for the Omega Award Review Process.
The Omega Award Review Process begins with a complete review of the site, using the criteria and scoring used in the Commendation Process. This is to determine if there has been any significant change to the site since the commendation was awarded. Each site will again be awarded a score. This score plays no further part in the process, unless a site scores less than 60 points. Any site scoring less than 60 points will be eliminated from the Omega Award and second stage of the process will being.
The second stage of the process requires the assembly of a "five person" review team. The team will consist of one member of the Adran Command staff, and four regular visitors / contributors to the station. Team members will be required to confirm that they have no involvement in any of the sites currently under review for the Omega. These five personnel will form the reivew board that will determine which site recieves the Omega.Each member of the reivew team will visit each site in turn, and spend a minimum of 30 minutes actively using the site. Once each site has been visited, they can choose only one site out of the six to award a ten point score. A further two can be chosen to receive a 5 point score.
Eeach review team member will be required to submit their score by a specific date. At an agreed point after that date, the scores will be totalled.
The site that receives the highest score will receive the Omega Award for 2010. In the event of two sites receiving the high score, a six member of the review team will be invited to break the deadlock. The two sites that receive the next highest scores, will receive a Runners Up Award.Visitors wishing to nominate a site for a Commendation, please refer to the Commendations page for the criteria for nominating a site prior to submission. Please note that sites that have been awarded a Commendation during the previous calendar year are excluded from the current Commendations Award Programme. Sites that have given Starbase Adran an award during the previous twelve months are also excluded from the Commendations Award Programme.
