welcome

Welcome to Starbase Adran. Our small corner of the net celebrate it's 12th birthday on 1st August 2010. Way back in 98 when she first went on line, it was very different from the site you see day. Adran started out serving a dual function as the on-line Command nexus for Starfleet Sector Command, a Star Trek club that I helped found, and as my own on line home. When Sector Command folded, Starbase Adran languished on line untouched and unloved for almost 18 months. I knew there had to be something that I could do with all this great material I had floating around in cyberspace. So I went back to the beginning and started again. Over the next three years and two false starts Adran continued to grow and become a larger presence on line. The station was radically re-fitted and re-launched on the 1st September 2005 and we have not looked back since. The Starbase Adran name and the LCARS format continue to attract new and existing visitors to keep coming back for more.

Many times I've been asked what my goal for this site is. It's quite a simple thing really, just to make it the best possible site that I can. Over the years I kept changing the format by adding new sections, removing older ones, refitting areas that don't come up to scratch and most of all - adding frequent updates. Sites that don't change and adapt simply don't survive. I've watched too many really brilliant sites go down simply because they don't listen to their visitors. That's always been onn of Adran's strengths. We not only listen to what our visitors say, but we implement the changes and improvements they suggest. There is hardly a month that goes by when we don't pick up a suggestion that has been sent in and run with it. So be sure to send in any ideas or suggestions that you may have.

Another big question that keeps getting asked. What do I do this? Well for starters it's not just me. There are a core of regular contributors that keep Adran alive. Why do we do this? To keep the spirit of Star Trek alive and well on the internet! What do we get out of all this? That's an easy one to answer, make a new friends and share my enjoyment in the weird and wonderful world of Star Trek. What do we want from you? The odd e-mail message telling us that we are going in the right direction - or the wrong direction for that matter. Perhaps a link on your site to Starbase Adran, or even just a vote in the monthly poll at Consensus or a message in the Guest Log.

What's my story? I live in the village of Corbridge, just outside the market town of Hexham with my partner of eight years Guy. Hexham is about fifteen miles west of Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England. I've been a Star Trek and sci-fi fan since as far back as I can remember. Favourite generation of Star Trek: Classic, favourite Trek character: Kira, favourite episode: The Inner Light, favourite movie: First Contact. Hopes for the future: getting married, or partnershiped and hopefully the return of Star Trek to where it belongs, on the television!

A very big thank you to everyone that has contributed to Starbase Adran over the years, and to everyone who has helped in making the station such as success. Without you all this would have not been possible. Remember Starbase Adran is here because of you the Trek fans, so please keep your comments and suggestions coming in.

Peace and Long Life
